One Room Challenge Week 6: The Reveal
Here we are, it’s week 6 of the One Room Challenge. We designed, DIY'd, poured blood, sweat and probably even some tears into our spaces and they are finally complete.
Over the last six weeks you have followed along as I took our second floor half bath from drab and outdated to a simple mid century tween dream. It was my first ever solo project and a pretty adventurous space to start with. There were ups and so many downs while figuring it all out along the way. Situated in our eleven year old daughter’s bedroom, this roughly 20sq ft half bath was in need of a major facelift. The bathroom featured glossy white walls, outdated fixtures, crumbling vanity and a toilet that just needed to go. For a recap of the process and progress made each week you can catch up below.

Let’s take a quick peek at what the space looked like six short weeks ago!
And here is where the half bath is now…
The beautiful modern American Standard fixtures, light and airy walls, bold black beadboard and brass accents set the stage for this fully renovated mid century space.
And the flooring… The real showstopper is this beautiful Harlow vinyl tile from Quadrostyle.
Closing up the original bathroom doorway and instead opening the bathroom up to the walk-in closet was one of the best decisions made in this process. It not only created more useable wall space in the adjacent bedroom but created an ensuite for occupants to ready themselves with full privacy without needing to leave the space.
Subtle pops of color can be seen throughout the space from the artwork, to linens and accent pieces that brighten up the otherwise simple design.
There are still a couple of items left to check-off on the to-do list but I am left with a feeling of accomplishment in what I did these last few weeks. I taught myself so much, not only about project management but also about myself and what I am capable of. Never would I have thought that I could take a room down to it’s studs and build it back again but here we are. It is seriously amazing what not only myself but what everyone was able to accomplish in six short weeks.
